Clarification regarding Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017

Please be informed that the clarification given by the Ministry of Labour and employment regarding new amendment under the Maternity Benefit act. Following points are evaluated: Ø    All new said amended clauses in notification except sub-section (5) of section 3 will be effected w.e.f. 1st Day of April, 2017  Increase Maternity Benefit from 12 weeks to 26 weeks for 1 st  & 2 nd  children, and 12 weeks for more than 2 children. 12 weeks Maternity Benefit to a Commissioning Mother and adopting mother Provision for work from home for nursing mother. Every establishment shall intimate in writing and electronically to every women at the time of her initial appointment about the benefits available under the Act. Ø    the 1st day of July, 2017, as the date on which sub-section (5) of section 3 of the said Act shall come into force. M andatory Provision of Crèche  to establishments having more than 50 or more total employees Also clarified that :-     ·

Rates of Provident Fund (PF) Administrative Charges reduced

Rates of Provident Fund (PF) Administrative Charges reduced The Employees’ Provident Fund organization (EPFO) has reduced the PF administrative charges to 0.65% (earlier the rate was 0.85%). Furthermore, the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) administrative charges have been reduced to 0% (nil) (earlier the charges were 0.01%). Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India (" Ministry of Labour ")  vide  Official Gazette notification dated 31 March 2017 has appointed 1 April 2017 as the date on which the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act 2017 (" MB Amendment Act ") has come into force. However, the relevant provision on the "work from home" option will come into effect from 1 July 2017. The MB Amendment Act had received Presidential assent on 27 March 2017 and was published in the Official Gazette on 28 March 2017. EPF Amnesty Scheme Extended Till 30th June 2017

An Employees’ Enrollment Campaign has been launched by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation during the period 01.01.2017 to 31.03.2017, in order to extend social security benefits to all the eligible workers in the country. During the Campaign, various financial incentives are being offered to establishments to enroll their workers.  Now the respective Campaign has been extended till 30th June 2017 where in all other Procedure of payment /Period etc. remains the same.

Maruti unrest verdict: Trade union seeks review

NEW DELHI: RSS affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the biggest trade union in the country, said that that in the Maruti case, the management of Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd deserves equal punishment as they were cause of the action taken by agitated workers and strongly demanded that the BJP-ruled Haryana state must present the workers side of the case in court, asking for a review of judgment, which has given life imprisonment to 13 workers, and announced five year imprisonment to four accused, while 14 other workers were fined and released after four and half years of imprisonment. In a statement issued , BMS general secretary Virjesh Upadhyay said,  "This decision has been taken by hearing arguments of both sides but we insist that the state revisit the case impartially by understanding the cause of the problem, that management has been equally responsible for this situation.
