In India non-government employee during their are protected by the social security in the forms of pensions under he Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. This Act plays a very important role in developing the corpus to be used during the post-retirement stage of an employee.   Employees covered under the EPF Act contribute 12% of their wages every month towards their provident fund.  The employer in turn makes a matching contribution to the fund.  The money goes into a fund managed by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization, the apex decision making body, under the aegis of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The government permits employers to manage own provident fund schemes, provided they comply with certain conditions.  The EPF Act offers flexibility of withdrawals - an employee can withdraw for higher education or for the purchase of a house.  Withdrawals may also be made for paying premium amount on one's life insurance policy.

The Department of Labour, Punjab has issued a letter bearing No . ST/9472    dated: 12/04/2016 wherein the above enhancement/adjustment has been announced effective from 01/03/2016 .  Employer is needed  to released the arrears while processing the salary for current month. The increase in wages for monthly rated employee is (INR) Rs. 274.90 & for daily rated is   10.59 & for hourly worker is 1.32  Please find the English Translation 

PF Department has introduced new Form 19 & 10C based on UAN for PF withdrawal. Now you don't need employer's signature on the form. If your UAN is activated and you have your Bank account and KYC details updated on UAN portal, just fill these form and submit in PF office with a cancelled cheque. Your PF will be deposited in your account directly.

New PF withdrawal norms put on hold till July 31    The labour ministry on Monday (18 th April 2016) eased the planned restriction on withdrawal of contribution to the employees’ provident fund. It said withdrawal can be allowed for housing, major medical treatment for self and family members, medical, dental and engineering education of children, and for their marriage. The relaxation has also been extended to members who have joined an establishment belonging to or under the central or state government, and become a member of contributory provident fund or old age pension. These norms will come into effect from August. The amendments were made after labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya received representations from trade unions. A government release said the ministry had decided to pay the full accumulations to the credit of a member, including interest up to the date of payment, if he or she fulfils any of the above-mentioned conditions. The Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hydrabad & Competent Authority under Minimum Wages Act, 1948, has declared the average State Industrial Consumer Price Index Number for the half year ending December 2015, as 1239 points (Base year 1982=100 Series) for Industrial Workers under part - i & 922 points (Base year 1986=100 series) for Agricultural Workers under Part - II which are applicable for the period from 1 April 2016 to 30 September 2016 in various Scheduled Employement notified under the minimum wages Act, 1948, in the State of Telangana for the purpose of calculation of VDA.
